CEO, Nexus Malls

Dalip Sehgal ,60, is an Honors graduate in Economics from the University of Delhi and an MBA, with specialization in marketing, from FMS, Delhi.
 
He is currently the CEO of Nexus malls which is a retail platform of the Blackstone private equity portfolio. The portfolio consists of 9 malls in different cities .
 
He has more than 39 years of experience in the corporate world, out of which, 25 years was with Unilever, the Anglo Dutch multinational. He started his career with the Tata’s in 1980 and then joined Hindustan Lever in 1982. In his career with Unilever, he worked in sales and marketing assignments across various businesses like detergents, foods, beverages and personal products. These included heading sales at a national level, and as head of marketing for the personal care business which had leading brands like Fair &Lovely , Ponds , Vaseline , Close Up , Pepsodent , Sunsilk , Clinic , Axe , Pears etc.
 
In April 2000, he was appointed to the Management Committee of HUL as Executive Director, New Ventures. He incubated and rolled out innovative new businesses like Pure It water purifiers, Project Shakti for doubling rural distribution reach using women self help groups , Ayush ayurvedic products and treatment centers, HLL Network for direct selling of top end personal and home care products.
 
In 2008 he joined Godrej Hershey Ltd as Managing Director and CEO. He was responsible for running the multi category foods and beverages business comprising of juices, soya drinks, oil, tea, confectionery and launching of the Hershey milk supplement brand in India.
 
In 2009 he moved within the Godrej group to a larger assignment as Managing Director of Godrej Consumer Products Ltd, one of the largest Indian FMCG companies with a global footprint with businesses in UK , Africa , Argentina, Indonesia and other countries
 
Subsequently he started a consulting firm DS Consulting that provided business strategy , marketing , sales and distribution support to small and midsized family run businesses across different consumer interfacing categories.
 
He is also an independent director on the board of several companies including House of Anita Dongre Ltd , Safari Industries (India) Ltd, SH Kelkar & Co Ltd, amongst others.
 
He has also invested in and mentors a few start ups.
 
In the past, he has been the Chairman of the Media Committee of India Society of Advertisers, Member Joint Industry Body (JIB) for TV advertising measurement, Member Rural Committee of ASSOCHAM, Director – Access Development Services, Care India and member of the FMCG Committee of FICCI.
